Overview

In the first part of this performance assessment, students will use the context of an aquarium to apply their knowledge and skills related to operations and algebraic thinking in order to solve problems. Specifically, students will be asked to apply volume formulas to find volumes of right rectangular prisms with fractional edge lengths in the context of solving real-world and mathematical problems.

Then students will use their understanding of this competency to solve problems and explain their methodology/process for finding their solutions. Additional guidelines: This assessment should be used after instruction on the following competencies in grade 6:

  • Students can apply volume formulas to find volumes of right rectangular prisms with fractional edge lengths in the context of solving real-world and mathematical problems.

It can also be used as a review in Grade 7.
