In this performance assessment, students will be asked to choose (or be assigned) a story to read. Then, students will pretend to be a journalist interviewing a character from a book. They will prepare a list of questions based on the character’s traits and actions and then write out the character’s responses in the form of an interview.
Students can write their interview questions and answers in any appropriate way, including, but not limited to PowerPoint or Google Slides (or another slideshow tool), Microsoft Word, Google Docs, or paper and colored pens/pencils/ markers. Final student work should be saved as an Acrobat PDF for uploading to the virtual scoring software.
This assessment can be used at any time in grade 4. Students should have had instruction on character analysis before this assessment is used.
