Overview

In this performance assessment, students will recognize how the type of ticket sold affects total revenue generated.

Specifically, students will write a system of linear equations to represent ticket sales and total revenue, solve this system, and adjust this system to increase revenue.

This assessment can be used in grade 8 after students have had instruction and practice solving systems of equations.

Big Ideas & Competencies

Big Ideas Competencies

B. Operations and Algebraic Thinking

Students can use mathematics to analyze and evaluate historical, political, economic, scientific, and social problems and make conjectures about possible solutions.

Solve Linear Equations 3

Students can solve real-world and mathematical problems leading to two linear equations in two variables.

NOTE ABOUT ASSESSMENT RUBRICS

Below are analytic teacher rubrics. The column on the left shows the dimension that is being measured in the student’s performance. The levels across the top row indicate the performance level in the dimensions. Occasionally all dimensions and performance levels are exemplified by multiple students in a single recording.
