Overview

In this performance assessment, the student will find connections in text, whether it is sequence, cause and effect, or compare and contrast. Specifically, students will be asked to read an article, identify the reading strategy, and explain the strategy using text evidence.

The students will show a relationship between a series by choosing a text structure that has been taught to describe the relationship found in the text, using the graphic organizer to help plan.

Students can create the final presentation in any appropriate way, including, but not limited to, PowerPoint or Google Slides (or another slideshow tool), Microsoft Word or Google Docs, paper, and colored pens/pencils/ markers. Final student work should be saved as an Acrobat PDF for uploading to the virtual scoring software.

This assessment might best be used after practicing the different text structures in class.
