In this performance assessment, students will paraphrase portions of a text read aloud to them or information presented in various media and formats.
Specifically, students will be asked to use the jigsaw strategy, where an article is broken into portions or sections among students. Students will then verbally share information in their own words about what they read or listened to. This could also be done in a Socratic circle or in partners. Students can create the final presentation in any appropriate way, including, but not limited to, any recording such as Kami or video on their Chromebooks. Final student work should be saved as an Acrobat PDF for uploading to the virtual scoring software.
Students should have had prior instruction on paraphrasing before this assessment is used.
