Overview

In this performance assessment, students use distance and elapsed time to calculate and graph speeds of different modes of transit. They will make connections between slopes and rates of speed.

This assessment is best used once students have had instruction on and practice graphing relationships and analyzing slopes in real-world contexts.

Students can use mathematics to analyze and evaluate historical, political, economic, scientific, and social problems and make conjectures about possible solutions.

Ratios and Proportional Relationships 1

Students can graph and compare proportional relationships, interpreting the unit rate as the slope of the graph.
