Overview

In this performance assessment, students will use the context of a study survey called the Study Showdown to apply their knowledge and skills related to measurement and data analysis to solve problems. 

Specifically, students will use measures of center and variability for numerical data to solve problems involving comparative inferences about two school populations.

Students will use their understanding of each of these competencies to solve these problems and explain their methodology/process for finding their solutions. This assessment can be used any time during the school year, but ideally it should be used after instruction on the following competencies in grade 7: Using Data 2 - Students can use measures of center and measures of variability for numerical data from random samples to draw informal comparative inferences about two populations.  This assessment can also be used as a review in 8th grade math classes.

Students will solve the problem in the test booklet or using Microsoft Word or Google Docs. Final student work should be saved as an Acrobat PDF for uploading to the virtual scoring software.
