Overview

In this performance assessment, students will be asked to choose (or be assigned) a story to read. Then, students will design a character storyboard that showcases a character from the story. The storyboard should include illustrations or pictures that represent the character’s physical appearance and actions, along with captions or speech bubbles that describe the character’s personality traits.

Students can create the storyboard in any appropriate way, including, but not limited to, PowerPoint or Google Slides (or another slideshow tool), Microsoft Word, or Google Docs, paper and colored pens/pencils/ markers. Final student work should be saved as an Acrobat PDF for uploading to the virtual scoring software.

This assessment can be used at any time in 3rd grade. Students should have had instruction on character analysis before this assessment is used.
